Director of Student Life

Function: The Director of School Life is responsible for supporting the overall program of the school. This position is responsible for leading and coordinating a variety of programs including: field trip transportation, clubs and enrichment, teacher subbing, discipline and special program days at Sant Bani School.

FSLA: Full Time, Exempt

Reports to: Director of Curriculum & Program

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Program, Front Office Manager, Head of School and others regarding the scheduling and logistical needs of the school
  • Coordinate student assessment (DIBELS)

Student Discipline

  • Support teachers to manage student behavior
  • Meet with students to complete Think Sheets and Behavior Reflections as appropriate
  • Coordinate with the SIT team to follow up regarding pattern behavior
  • Work with the Director of Curriculum and Program, Leadership Team and the Head of School regarding more serious discipline as appropriate

Transportation

  • Secure contracted transportation and schedule school-owned transportation for field trips, clubs, enrichment and special program days

Clubs & After School Enrichment

  • Lead, plan and implement the clubs, ski club and after school enrichment program
  • Organize teachers to ensure appropriate staff participation and suitable seasonal options for students
  • Lead four enrichments per year

Teacher Substitutes

  • Coordinate daily teacher subbing needs throughout the school
  • Perform substitute duties as needed

Special Program Days

  • Lead, plan and implement special program days including three Family Service Work Days, two All-School Service Days (in coordination with the service committee), and Mountain Climb
  • Support the Director of Curriculum and Program to plan and implement special events such as Family Writing Night and Family Math Night

Mid-Service Coordination

  • Develop an annual list of service jobs/projects that need completed throughout the year by coordinating with various school departments
  • Direct and monitor families to ensure that jobs/projects are completed as prescribed

  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Experience coordinating complex programs
  • Experience with student behavior interventions
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to effectively manage a demanding workload including multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Strong computer skills
  • A sense of humor
  • A passion for the education of young people

Education / Experience

  • Three or more years experience in education is preferred
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
