K-8 Spanish Teacher (PT)

The Spanish Teacher is responsible for helping students progress towards competency and fluency. Our ideal candidate is a highly-qualified childhood educator with a desire to contribute positively to our school community who demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to motivate and inspire children in a positive manner.

Reports to: Director of Educational Program

Part-time; FLSA: Exempt

Required Education/Experience:

  • BA or MA in Education
  • Experience with Comprehensible Input (CI) and Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS)
  • NH Teaching Certificate or equivalent experience/certificate
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Minimum 3 years as a classroom teacher; 5+ years preferred

Classroom Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest, commitment and ability to challenge students at all levels
  • Knowledge and understanding of learning and teaching philosophy and the developmental needs of students
  • Evidence of strong, positive student and classroom management
  • Ability to use assessments to inform instruction
  • Commitment to establishing effective, proactive and positive parent communication
  • Proficiency with classroom technology (e.g., interactive whiteboard, computers)

Responsibilities include:

  • Being available to students throughout the academic day for consultation or extra help
  • Promptly assessing, evaluating and providing feedback on student work
  • Creating course syllabi for each teaching assignment
  • Preparing and submitting grades, narratives and course descriptions each trimester
  • Serving as a model for students: supporting and complying with school policies and rules, and participating in the spirit of the school community
  • Communicating with parents on a regular basis
  • Attending faculty meetings and other meetings as requested
  • Participating in all-school service days
  • Participating in professional development opportunities
  • Lunch and recess duties as assigned
  • Attendance at all grade level performances, showcases, activities, and Parent Teacher Conferences
  • All other duties as assigned
